Welcome to the new and improved website for Uncharted! We are expanding the website to feature blogs, reviews, previews of upcoming events, and anything else that doesn’t make it into the magazine. So keep checking back for updated news about the arts at UNC.

Of course we’re still producing the magazine, and the latest issue will be found under the “current” tab. Our next issue will be up April 16, so check back then to see it! If you want to see past issues they’re under “archives.”

If you have any comments, questions, or you are interested in being featured in Uncharted send us an email using the form under “contact.” We would love to hear from you!

About Uncharted

Uncharted is a PDF art magazine founded in 2008 by Allison Young, Katie Sternowski, and Jess Shorland.   The magazine is designed to enrich the arts education of students at UNC Chapel Hill as well as promote the artistic endeavors of individuals within Chapel Hill and its surrounding communities.

But Uncharted will be more than just a journal; it will be a way to connect the arts community.

After all, art is about communication.

The name Uncharted comes from an abbreviation for “UNC Art Education”, but it also speaks to the vast territory of undiscovered and/or underrepresented talent within Chapel Hill and its surrounding communities.

Our mission is to promote participation in artistic expression, collect and share displays of art and art initiatives within the Chapel Hill community, and stimulate academic discussion about art itself in addition to its presence surrounding social issues.
